Friday Work

Just realized that I put the Friday work post on the wrong blog! Was adding pictures this morning and wondered where the post was. Here it is now.......

Today was a work in Bernal day. The men really wanted to get the new roof up on the car port/patio/eating area. They had started earlier in the week, but were only working on it a bit each day, and they wanted to get it done. There wasn't a lot that they could do over in Tequis, as they had gotten the wall up to a point that only the stronger men could lift the blocks up high enough to continue.

Everyone kept busy today. Brad and Sonny changed the brakes on the Kull's van and on Gadiel's van. Most of the ladies spent some time cutting out flannelgraph figures for the Bernal church. Brittaney and Abby filed all of the flannelgraph pieces in the storage boxes. We bought a complete Bible set a few weeks back, and there were hundreds of pieces to cut out and store. Brandon and Sonny worked on installing the plumbing in the kitchen area and second bathroom of the church. Brandon, Dr. Joe, Bud, Pastor Jerry and Brad spent most of the day doing the roof. Brad and Dr. Joe replaced the back of the Kull's desk chair that broke off yesterday (after 13 years).

Bonnie, Laurie and Martha painted the church kitchen/Sunday School room. It looks so nice painted yellow, rather than just the cement color.

It was a busy day, and a lot of work was started and finished!

Friday Night and Saturday Morning

Thank you so much to each of the families for sending your family members. For some of you that meant having kids by yourself, and having to cook and all. We very much enjoyed having them here.

Wednesday

Yes, the team did work today. No, I didn't go, so I didn't take pictures. Last night we went to the home of one of the church folks, and had a great time visiting. It is now Thursday morning, and time to leave again. I'll get pics and info this afternoon.

Hey Lancy.....

......remember where the church in Tequis is meeting? At the Tae Kwon Do place? (From the dentist, it is farther out about 1 kilometer.) Well, they bought property up the street a bit, and to the right about 2 blocks. This group is putting the fence around the property so that they can then start the building on the inside.

Hope you're having a good week. I stayed home with the kids today. They are pretty tired out from running around for the last 2 days. Mopped the floors and trying to get the laundry done. We'll go again tomorrow.

Bye for now. Love, Mom

Sunday Afternoon

Sunday afternoon we walked around Bernal, then had a sing and share time at the home of Gadiel and Martha.

I just quickly put these pics on tonight. Everyone else is fast asleep, but I wanted to get some things on. Tomorrow evening we should be at home, and I should have more time to get more pictures on. This will have to tide you over until then.

Sunday Service

Sunday morning started off with breakfast, then church at 10:00. Abby sang, Walter preached and everyone seemed to enjoy the service.

Work Team-Monday

We've had a full first couple of days with the group from Nixa. Saturday, after arriving in Mexico City, they headed out to the pyramids.

Busy Week Ahead

Well, busy week behind, too! At noon today Richard and Marco are meeting a work team from my folks church in Nixa, Missouri at the airport. There are 12 coming down, including my folks and by brother. They will head out to the Pyramids for a few hours then should get here to the house between 8 and 9 tonight. We would have all loved to have gone to the airport and Pyramids too, but we have a lack of available cars to transport them all, so just Richard went.

Most of the group will be staying here at the house/church, with the three men staying down at Walter's house (our old house). We are in Mexico, so there was a lot of last minute things to do. We ordered the last door for the Sunday School room about 3 months ago. It finally arrived Thursday--the paint still wet. Richard, Gadiel and Walter put it in yesterday afternoon. We were still waiting for the last piece of glass for the window, too. It was ordered at least 3 months ago as well. The other windows were finished about a month ago, but he was short one glass and said he would bring it Tuesday. Just ended up being about a month later. So, I still have to go upstairs and set up a bed, clean up and make the beds today. I hate doing things last minute, but after all, I am in Mexico.

Yesterday Martha, Dula and Yolanda came over and we worked on getting salsa made, cooking up chicken and other stuff for the week.

We will be working everyday over in Tequisquiapan, getting the wall up around the church property there. They really can't begin construction, or even have materials delivered, until they have a wall up. Otherwise, sand, gravel, or block will disappear.

A week after the team leaves, we will be heading north. The kids have to leave the country by the 5th, as their visas run out. We want to vote, and decided we may as well leave on the 3rd so that we can vote in Missouri on the 4th. We have voted absentee before, but the mail service here has gotten worse, and we decided that we didn't trust our ballots to actually arrive back to be counted.

Ok, back to work for now. I'll try to post pictures each evening here so that those of you in Nixa can see your team at work!

Finally....an update

Wnted to give an update here, since I haven't done it for a while. There are a number of people that we would appreciate you praying for.

About 3 years ago a lady from here in town, Lupita, attended church for a number of months along with her two daughters and granddaughter. You might remember us mentioning her back then as a lady who left town and went to Queretaro, to a home for battered wives for awhile. Later we heard that she had returned to Bernal, but her husband would not let her attend church anymore. About two months ago Richard and I ran into her downtown and were able to talk to her for awhile. Ivonne, a lady from church who has a business downtown, has gotten to know her and has been sharing with her quite a bit.

Lupita started coming to church again about 2 months ago, bringing along another friend of hers with two little daughters. They have also been coming to Wednesday afternoon ladies studies, and to Tuesday night Bible study. Today at ladies meeting
the second Lupita (yes, they are both Lupita) asked for a Bible, so I was able to give her one from the church. Please pray for these two Lupitas as they are learning new things, and both are seeking to make changes in their lives.

Also, Juan and Cesy have been attending for a few months. They own a restaurant downtown. In a tourist town, unfortunately, weekends are the busiest time, but they have been trying to make it to church each Sunday. They are also attending Tuesday night Bible study. Juan's brother, Arturo, came last week, as well. His wife left him and their two young children last year. Richard has been able to visit quite a bit with both Juan and Arturo at their restaurant. They both have much to learn and change in their lives.

We have been here in Bernal for 5 years, and it seems that finally there is some response from people here in town. Please pray for those named above--that they will
be strong and continue to study the Bible so that they can see God change their lives.

Richard and Walter have been going out to San Pablo each Monday night for a growing Bible study there. A couple of others from church are beginning to attend there as well, to help with childrens meetings and discipling the ladies there. There is also a new Wednesday night meeting in Colon with one of the families that attends here on Sundays.

Thanks for praying!

5th Anniversary of the church in Bernal

Today we celebrated the 5th anniversary of the beginning of the church here in Bernal. We had a full house and had a good morning. On Wednesday, the ladies got together and cleaned the building, chairs, windows and all. Starla made curtains for the windows---the purchase of the fabric has been the ladies Sunday meal project for the last few months. Others prepared by decorating and making bookmarks for each one.

About three months ago while we were downtown Bernal we ran into a lady who used to come to church from here in town. She later left town because of abuse from her husband. Months later she returned with him, but was never allowed to attend church. It was a real surprise this morning when she walked in with her daughters and granddaughter, as well as a friend and her children. Please pray for Lupita, that we would be able to visit with her and encourage her, and that she would make a strong decision to follow the Lord.

Here are a few pictures of the morning:

August Updates

Hey,

We've had a great summer so far, but it is cool and rainy down here this time of year. I guess the altitude of 6400 ft has a lot to do with it. Summers are rainy season here in central Mexico. We do enjoy seeing the desert turn green with the rains sense it is so dry most of the year.

Ministry wise we have a lot going with the church here in Bernal.
The new opportunities to church plant in neighboring towns is also on our minds and hearts.

Our National pastors/missionaries also require attention and accountability.
We have taken on 3 more families under our fellowship this year so we have more going on than ever before.

Please keep us in your prayers.

Rick

We are excited to see so much progress in the various ministries this year.

Pastors Conference the first week of July

The first week of July found us serving in the kitchen and also attending a church planting missionary - pastor´s retreat hosted by fusion ministries of Queretaro, Mexico.

Sinse we are directly involved in church planting ministries we decided to support the retreat. Coleman / Nancy Priski our coworkers in Tequisquiapan also were there.
Lancy´s old boss in Argentina was the speaker, Edwardo Bouldine and his son.

We are excited about the new churches that are being formed for God´s glory.

We are living in exciting times before the Lord´s return.

Thanks for standing with us.

Richard
