Prayer Request

Please pray for Susana and her family. They have had quite a month!

First, Francisco, her husband, left for the States to find work, leaving her with the three teenagers, no money to pay the rent, a house half built with workers working and bills to pay, a car that is not paid for.....well, you get the idea.

A few days later, her youngest sister, Ema, who attents church with us, went to the hospital to have her baby. She had some serious problems with high blood pressure, and ended up having an emergency c-section at 3:00am. Susana was at the hospital for 2 or 3 days with her.

Ema and her baby boy were only home about a week when her husband was in a serious car accident. He had surgery on his broken leg to put in some kind of a plate. He was home the next day, but within hours was taken back to the hospital by ambulance. It seems that he had some allergic reaction to the plate and/or medicine, and for the next few days was pretty serious with breathing problems. Now, a week later, he is doing better, but still in the hospital. Once again, Susana has been at the hospital a lot, and taking care of Ema, as well.

Just last night we went down to Susana's taco stand to eat, and found it closed. A bit later we ran into Susana, and found that her other sister, Conchi, had been in a car accident. Susana was on her way to the hospital, and we haven't heard any more this morning.

Through all of this Susana has been working, trying to get the roof poured on their house so they can move in and not have to be paying rent. All this, with no money and lots of debts left by her husband. It will be interesting to see if he finds a job and sends money down, and eventually returns.

So, please pray for Susana, and her kids, Mario, Alma and Jonathan.

The Gorditas

Sunday Church Dedication

Last Sunday afternoon we had a church dedication. We were thankful to have four couples from our mission here, and thought that would be a good time to have it. We had a number of visitors from the Tequisquiapan church here, had a nice service, then had a couple of ladies from town in to make gorditas. They were yummy!

Monday Morning

We had a great week with the work team, but all good things must come to an end :)

The team got off to the airport at 8:15 this morning, arrived to the airport on time, and from there we're hoping that all went well.

Thanks so much to the mom's and dad's and wives for sending us your loved ones. They worked hard, accomplished A LOT, and were a blessing to us.

As much as we enjoyed having them, I think we were all exhausted and ready for a break! I spent the morning, with Yolanda from church, cleaning my house and trying to get the laundry caught up. LiAnne was sad all morning cause, "I'm going to miss BethAnne and the team!" She always enjoys it when someone comes, and makes friends easily. Janelle was sad as well.....she really enjoyed having the other youth here, but mostly because she had to go back to school today!

Sat down on the couch for a bit after lunch, and ended up taking an hour nap. That was very nice!

Tonight we are visiting with three couples from our mission who are visiting. It is so nice to have them here again....they came through 2 years ago as well. Mr. Buie is reading the kids a story right now....then it will be bedtime.

Sunday Morning in Bernal

This morning we enjoyed having the team in our church service. They sang in English, then we joined them in Spanish. The church people are very thankful for the work that has been done this week. Some were able to join in and be here for the work, others had to work all week themselves, so were not able to be around much.

We were joined today by our mission directors, Frank and Ruth Buie, Flay and Margaret Allen, and Danny and Nila Johnson. Mr. Allen played his accordion, and you'll see in the pictures that all of the children were fascinated by it.

After church we will have a church dedication and lunch. The church from Tequisquiapan will join us. I'll have more pictures of that in the afternoon.

Saturday in Bernal

Sorry to the team families for not getting pictures up yesterday. The team worked in the morning, finishing up the boveda, or ceiling of the church, and other jobs that still lacked a bit. By noon they were worn out, sitting around in chairs, half asleep! We had lunch at 2:00, then they headed out to shower and sleep for a couple of hours. At 5:00 they left to visit in Tequisquiapan, about 40 minutes from here, where we have another church. There they did some shopping and we able to stop by to see where Wilferd was having a seminar.

Wednesday night prayer and sing time

Thursday morning work

Thursday morning work

The team worked hard today. They mixed the cement, then poured it in buckets, and carried it the length of the house, up the stairs, handed it up to the third floor, and poured it out there. It was a lot of work. The girls worked hard too...filling the buckets of sand and gravel to put in the mixer.

Here are pictures:
